Nevada Clean Energy Fund Launches New Initiative to Train Nevada’s Clean Energy Force

Nevada’s green bank, the Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF), is proud to announce the launch of the Nevada Solar for All (NSFA) Training Voucher Program, an initiative to expand the state’s solar capacity and workforce. This program will equip Nevadans with the skills and training necessary to lead the state’s transition to clean energy while ensuring the equitable deployment of solar energy projects.

The NSFA Training Voucher Program offers funding opportunities for nonprofits, businesses, Tribes, local governments, and solar contractors to support training and capacity-building initiatives for their staff that advance solar deployment under the NSFA. Supported by a $156 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, NSFA aims to provide clean energy savings to more than 20,000 low-income and disadvantaged households across the state.

A defining feature of the program is its commitment to equity, dedicating 50% of the $375,000 in voucher funds to training individuals from low-income and disadvantaged communities. This ensures the creation of a skilled and inclusive workforce that will be better equipped to implement projects and catalyze future solar development and job creation across Nevada.

“This program is a significant step forward in empowering nonprofits to deliver solar savings directly to our low-income residents,” said Natalie Prochaska, Director of Planning and Research at Nevada HAND, a nonprofit affordable housing developer, and chair of the NSFA Affordable Housing Community Council. “By providing the workforce training resources necessary to integrate solar energy solutions into affordable housing projects, the Nevada Clean Energy Fund is directly helping lower-resourced Nevada property owners reduce energy costs for residents while contributing to a sustainable future.”

“We often hear from our nonprofit, business, and local government partners that they don’t have the technical capacity to implement and maintain solar on their buildings and properties,” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. “By equipping them with the tools and training needed, we are helping to reduce energy costs for Nevada’s most vulnerable communities and building a skilled workforce that will drive sustainable growth for years to come.”
