In partnership with Nevada Clean Energy Fund, Energy Impact Fund will accelerate clean energy growth and reduce energy costs for Nevada residents
LAS VEGAS – Google today announced a $10 million Energy Impact Fund (EIF) to support energy innovation and affordability for households in Nevada. As part of the investment, Google is providing $5 million to the Residential Energy Upgrade Program (RE-UP) run by the Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF). The remaining $5 million will be distributed later this year, with additional details to be announced.
Many Nevada households face critical health and safety gaps in their homes that make them ineligible for participation in available programs. Meanwhile, other households face financial barriers to home upgrades but do not qualify for existing assistance programs. As a result, hundreds of thousands of Nevada families report living in homes with high energy bills, unsafe indoor air temperatures, and aging equipment they cannot afford to replace.
NCEF’s RE-UP program helps Nevada households lower utility bills and improve home health and safety through affordable financing for upgrades such as efficient home heating systems, home cooling systems, and weatherization measures. Google’s partnership with NCEF is designed to close a persistent affordability gap in our Nevada data center communities. The program’s funds will support new home weatherization efforts and energy efficiency improvements across Reno-Sparks near our Storey County facility and Clark County by our Henderson facility. To date, Google’s Energy Impact Funds have helped households save between $545 and $729 annually on energy bills in other states. These measures will not only reduce monthly energy bills – particularly for households burdened by high summer cooling costs – but they will deliver meaningful financial, public health and resiliency benefits for participating families, at no cost to Nevada’s residents.
“This investment will help more Nevada families make improvements that can lower their monthly energy bills, while creating healthier, safer and more comfortable homes,” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO of Nevada Clean Energy Fund. “By reducing the upfront barriers that often prevent households from pursuing these upgrades, we can ensure more Nevadans benefit from the state’s growing clean energy economy.”
This investment builds on Google’s long track record as a leader in clean energy, ratepayer protection, and economic growth in Nevada. The company’s Henderson data center was built in 2019, and its Storey County facility was built in 2021. In that time, Google has invested more than $6 billion in Nevada and, in 2025 alone, helped drive $7.7 billion of economic activity for tens of thousands of Nevada businesses, nonprofits, publishers, creators, and developers. In partnership with NV Energy, Google also pioneered a new utility rate structure called the Clean Transition Tariff (CTT). The CTT allows large load customers like Google to partner with utilities to unlock new, grid-level investments into clean energy technologies – all with no increase in costs for non-participating ratepayers.
“We’re committed to being a good neighbor and ensuring our presence directly benefits Nevadans. That means not only powering our operations responsibly, but also investing in practical solutions that can make an immediate, meaningful difference for local families,” said Amanda Peterson Corio, Global Head of Energy & Power at Google. “Through this partnership with the Nevada Clean Energy Fund, we are helping put critical home upgrades within reach for more households, lowering energy costs, improving health and safety, and ensuring more communities share in the benefits of Google’s long-standing commitment to Nevada.”
As demand for electricity grows across the country, Google is committed to ensuring that energy is affordable, reliable, and accessible for families and businesses. Google is committed to paying for 100% of the power its data centers use and when the company builds data centers, Google covers the infrastructure needs directly driven by its growth.
