Nevada Launches Energy Workforce Accelerator to Provide Training and Career Pathways to 200+ Workers
CARSON CITY, NV – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) has launched the Nevada Energy Workforce Accelerator (NEWA), a statewide workforce development program led by Everblue in partnership with Western Nevada College (WNC) and Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF).
Funded by GOE’s State Energy Program, NEWA will equip more than 200 Nevadans with industry-recognized energy certifications that strengthen the ability of HVAC technicians to reduce energy costs for Nevadans and address the shortage of energy auditors and weatherization workers. The program will target at least 60% participation from underserved communities.
NEWA combines Everblue’s proven training model—that has trained more than 100,000 professionals nationwide over 15+ years—with WNC’s college credit pathways and NCEF’s rural and tribal outreach to create a sustainable pipeline of job-ready clean energy workers. Trainees will be well-positioned to participate in NCEF’s financing programs and other future federal, state, and utility programs. To date, NCEF has deployed over $10 million to support clean energy projects for residential and commercial customers and vetted over 60 energy contractor businesses who are licensed and certified to build the projects.
“Through the Nevada Energy Workforce Accelerator, we are making a strategic investment in Nevada’s greatest asset, it’s people—building the skilled workforce needed to deliver energy savings, strengthen grid resilience, and support Nevada’s growing clean energy economy,” said James Humm, Director of GOE. “By partnering with industry leaders and education providers, this program ensures Nevadans across the state have access to high-quality training and clear pathways into in-demand careers. NEWA reflects our commitment to turning federal resources into lasting economic opportunity for Nevada.”
“NCEF’s partnership lets Everblue do more than fill classroom seats: we’re opening career pathways for Nevadans historically excluded from clean energy jobs,” said Luke Gebhard, Everblue Project Director. “Our proven training model plus direct contractor connections builds workforce capacity Nevada needs right now.”
Potential program participants could include new job entrants as well as existing contractors and housing professionals seeking upskilling opportunities. Services accessible to NEWA trainees include:
- Free hybrid and weekend courses with hands-on labs and Spanish instruction
- Paid exam support aligned with BPI, RESNET, NATE, ASHRAE standards
- Intensive pathways for BPI Building Analyst, NATE HVAC and heat pump, weatherization, electrification
- Wraparound supports (stipends, tools, PPE, travel) for statewide access

“This program is about making sure all Nevadans—no matter where they live—can participate in the state’s clean energy future,” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO of NCEF. “By prioritizing rural and tribal outreach, we are expanding access to training and creating pathways into careers that support Nevada’s growing economy.”
