Nevada Clean Energy Fund’s Residential Upgrade Program Reaches $1 million Milestone

Las Vegas, NV– The Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) is proud to announce that its Residential Energy Upgrade Program (RE-UP) reached a major milestone: $1 million in loans to help Nevada households lower their utility bills and improve home comfort through energy upgrades.

Launched in late 2023, RE-UP provides low-interest, unsecured loans for energy-saving home improvements such as HVAC, roofing, solar PV, and insulation. This program is designed to serve low- and moderate-income households, especially those traditionally left out of financing options.

“This $1 million milestone highlights the Nevada Clean Energy Fund’s commitment to delivering real savings and healthier homes for Nevada families.” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. “We are just getting started. We are working to build on RE-UP and our partnership with the Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) to enable more Nevadans to lower their energy bills and benefit from clean energy.”

RE-UP is made possible through a partnership with Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF), a national nonprofit leader in inclusive green lending. SELF supports loan underwriting, servicing, and community engagement to ensure equitable access.

“SELF is proud to support Nevada’s transition to energy equity and reach this important milestone,” said Duanne Andrade, Executive Director of SELF. “This milestone shows that when the right tools are in place, underserved communities can lead the way in the clean energy transition.”

RE-UP has already made a meaningful difference in homeowners like Angela, a Las Vegas resident who applied for a RE-UP loan to replace an old HVAC system. “We weren’t able to get a loan through several companies due to bankruptcy and felt we were not going to get a new air conditioner in this heat. You gave us a chance. I thank you so much …”

RE-UP has also benefitted over 50 contractors by generating more projects with fair, accessible financing. Participating contractors are thoroughly vetted by NCEF and receive support with client onboarding, and project tracking.

“As a Nevada contractor I am extremely grateful for RE-UP loans from the Nevada Clean Energy Fund! They allow us to provide good, honest, and affordable financing for our solar customers. We have confidence that our customers who have used these loans will not only enjoy lower energy bills they will be saving thousands of dollars over other financing methods,” said Louise Helton, Vice President, 1 Sun Solar Electric, LLC

Aaron Galloway, Operations Manager of Mountain Vista Roof Systems agrees, “Re-Up allows us to provide essential roofing services to members of our community that have not qualified for them previously. We believe that every family should have their home protected. This program has helped us stay true to that mission.”

RE-UP loans can be paired with federal, state, and utility incentives to maximize savings. Homeowners and renters (with landlord approval) interested in applying can visit nevadacef.org/residents. Contractors interested in joining the vetted network can apply at nevadacef.org/contractors
