Nevada Households Can Access Solar Savings and Lower Utility Bills through Nevada BRIGHT Program

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF)’s Nevada BRIGHTsolar lease program began installing solar systems on Nevada homes this month. The program is designed to make solar energy more affordable and accessible to homeowners statewide, while unlocking federal tax credit benefits following the expiration of the residential solar tax credit at the end of last year.

Nevada BRIGHT uses a prepaid solar lease model that allows households to go solar with lower upfront costs and a pathway to system ownership. The program is delivered in collaboration with the Nevada Climate Association and installation partner Sol-Up, combining local expertise and resources to expand access to renewable energy across Nevada.

“Programs like Nevada BRIGHT are critical to ensuring more Nevadans can benefit from clean energy savings,” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO of NCEF. “By combining strong partnerships with smart financing tools, we are making it easier for households to lower their energy costs with rooftop solar.”

The Nevada BRIGHT program was developed in response to the expiration of the 30% residential solar tax credit at the end of 2025. Without the residential tax credit, the upfront cost of solar has made the decision to go solar more difficult and expensive for Nevada households. Through Nevada BRIGHT, homeowners enter into a prepaid lease agreement with Nevada Climate Association for their solar system. Nevada Climate Association owns and maintains the system for a period of at least six years, leveraging the commercial tax credit to reduce the upfront cost to the homeowner. After six years, the homeowner has the option to take ownership of the system.

Households who participate in Nevada BRIGHT can expect:

• Up to 15-25% savings on the total installation cost of a solar system;
• Installation, monitoring, and maintenance provided by vetted partners; and,
• Flexible financing options supported by NCEF.

Through this model, homeowners receive the maximum cost savings from solar through both reduced monthly utility costs and savings on the upfront cost of the system.

The Nevada Climate Association plays a central role in enabling the leasing structure, while Sol-Up and other vetted solar installers provide high-quality solar installation and maintenance services to ensure program participants receive reliable and efficient systems.

NCEF is expanding the reach of the Nevada BRIGHT program through new local and community partnerships, including collaboration with Clark County’s Switch Together group-buy program. Clark County residents can enroll in Switch Together, a program that uses the Nevada BRIGHT discounted solar offering with Nevada Climate Associates and financing from NCEF.
