Nevada Clean Energy Fund Awarded $100,000 Grant from NV Energy Foundation to Expand Tribal Clean Energy Program

Las Vegas, NV – The Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the NV Energy Foundation to expand its Tribal Clean Energy Program. This grant will fund the hiring of a Tribal Clean Energy Program Manager, a role that will significantly expand NCEF’s capacity to support Nevada’s Native American Tribes in accessing and implementing federal clean energy funding opportunities.

NCEF’s Tribal Clean Energy Program provides targeted technical assistance and education to Nevada’s Tribes, enabling them to identify and secure funding for clean energy projects that meet their specific needs. The program supports Tribes in applying for and implementing funds from federal programs such as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate formula grants and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Community Change Grants.

“Nevada’s rural Tribes often face heightened challenges related to energy, like unhealthy air from the use of propane and wood for heating and cooking,” said Kirsten Stasio, CEO at NCEF. “With NV Energy Foundation’s support, we will be able to assist Nevada’s Tribes in accessing millions of dollars for clean energy projects that boost resilience, create economic opportunities, and improve the health of Tribal communities.”

The new Tribal Clean Energy Program Manager will expand outreach to Nevada’s Tribes, providing technical assistance in identifying beneficial clean energy projects on Tribal lands and developing funding strategies for project implementation.

“We are committed to empower Nevada’s Tribal communities through sustainable energy initiatives,” said Ryan Bellows, Vice President of Government and External Relations and NV Energy Foundation board member “We are proud to support the Nevada Clean Energy Fund to help tribes unlock their potential in the transition to clean energy.”

This is the second grant the NV Energy Foundation has awarded to NCEF. The first grant in early 2023 helped NCEF build its organizational capacity and ultimately secure over $170 million in federal funds for Nevada’s communities.
